Meeting Minutes 4/1/07

Welcome to our newest member, Jill Haney from Cincinnati!

Special thanks to LisaMarie and Katrina for their highly informative programs. We all learned a lot of info that can be quickly applied to our own businesses (and lives!)

Current Chapter Business

(1) Secretary Michelle Washington has left the image industry to pursue her fashion stylist career. We wish her the best.

(2) Something to look forward to: Katrina mentioned the Mid-Atlantic chapter attended the New York chapter’s education day and made a weekend of it, complete with shopping. We mentioned attending New York’s or Chicago’s education day next year and turning it into a little get away.

(3) Ways proposed to improve membership and meeting attendance:

- Chapter Member of the Year Award starting in June

(winner has to have attended 3 of the 4 yearly meetings)

- $25 department store gift certificate given away at each meeting (this will mean $100 for the year taken out of chapter funds, but will be worth it)

- If anyone connects with any member regarding our industry, please forward their contact info to kristen@kkimagedesign.com – I will be keeping a spreadsheet.

- Consider holding a meeting or two in Cleveland, where there is a denser population of members and potential members.

- A limit of two drop-ins by potential members before we expect them to join the chapter.

(4) Treasurer’s Report

- Current chapter funds = a little over $1000 with $480 in rebates ready to be released to us – will put us over $1500.

- Treasurer LisaMarie needs to buy some stamps :)

(5) Chapter will start a Fed Ex account for sending official documentation to corporate – easier than sending through the mail, and much easier to track.

(6) Katrina will check with January presenter Linda Thomas about our CEU’s.

(7) Chapter Elections

- Corporate wants nominations closed before the start of conference. Any chapter member is welcome to run. LisaMarie has graciously offered to serve as treasurer for one more year.

- The nominees are:

President – Kristen Kaleal

Vice-President – Erica Torres-Dudziak

Secretary – Jill Haney

- Voting will be in May by electronic ballot.

- We have decided to remove the VP Membership role for this coming year since boosting membership needs to be our primary goal. The president and VP will collaborate their efforts first and foremost to bringing the membership to a safe level (our goal is a consistent 20 members) to assure the future viability of the chapter.

(8) Katrina will complete documentation of our programs for the chapter – LML & KK from yesterday and KK from 1-29-06.

(9) We have also been discussing a chapter retreat in Cleveland over the summer. This would be Fri-Sun, potentially August 17, 18 & 19.

Some of the program ideas:

- New program roundtable – everyone gets to create a new program, complete with marketing and promotion ideas.

- Life Coaching – have fun, less stress in your career

- Makeup & Hair education

- Menswear

- Tailoring

- Search engine optimization (SEO)

- Upgrade your professional bio workshop

- Underwear Intervention

We need to do some research and figure out prices for members and non-members.
